To be responsible for carrying out specific occupational therapy assessments and interventions related to self-care, productivity and leisure as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist, with either individuals or groups of service users. To assist the Occupational Therapist in planning and co-ordinating a weekly programme of therapeutic activities in liaison with service users and the multi-disciplinary team, which aim to meet the needs of service users and provide meaningful, age and gender appropriate occupation. To conduct and participate in a wide range of treatment sessions, tailored to the needs and goals of the patients, following assessment by the Occupational Therapist such as: - Living skills e.g. meal planning, cooking, budgeting, health education.
- Social skills and community inclusion e.g. discussion groups, communication groups, orientation to the community. - Creative therapies e.g. art, craft, music.
- Cognitive skills e.g. concentration groups, problem solving, relaxation. - Recreation/leisure activities, promoting the use of community facilities and unit based facilities, hobbies/interests, gardening, - Health and fitness activities e.g. fitness activities, indoor and outdoor within the unit and in the community.
