**About the Post**

We are a looking for a forward-thinking Consultant for a joint post between NHS Lothian’s Directorate of Public Health and Health Policy (0.5 WTE) and Public Health Scotland’s Clinical and Protecting Health Directorate (0.5 WTE). The substantive employer will be NHSL who will provide a permanent full-time contract with a rolling Service Level Agreement with PHS. Full-time posts currently total 10 programmed activities per week; other, more flexible arrangements such as part-time, job share etc. will be considered. Both NHSL and PHS components of the role contain no routine on-call commitments.

In PHS your role will involve working in the Population Health and Healthcare Consultant team, taking national evidence and intelligence to inform the Population Health agenda across Lothian, and bringing back learning of challenges and what works locally to develop and share nationally. You will provide oversight and public health leadership in an area of interest, such as healthy weight. You will also lead on the Scottish Public Health Observatory (ScotPHO) collaboration - providing advice and direction to the ScotPHO team and leading on future developments.

**About Public Health Scotland**

PHS is a new organisation between the Scottish Government and Local Government, working in partnership, to provide leadership to improve and protect the health and wellbeing of the people of Scotland. PHS launched 1st April 2020 with the formal status of a National Special Health Board employing around 1100 people, and with an annual budget of around £60 million, Public Health Scotland will provide authoritative information and services to support people and communities across Scotland. The main bases of work for PHS are at Gyle Square, Edinburgh / Central Quay or Boswell House, Glasgow.
