The Role
The HR/OD Service in Northumberland County Council is made-up of a friendly, exciting and dynamic team of HR, Learning and Organisational Development and Recruitment and Selection professionals.
This role will sit within the HR Schools team that is directly managed through an SLA arrangement by North Tyneside Council. The HR Advisor (Schools) will be part of a team of three HR Advisers that provides advice, guidance and support to clients (mainly Schools within Northumberland) across a wide range of HR services. The team is supported and managed by Schools HR Managers.
Working as part of the School’s HR team, the new post holder will provide an efficient dedicated first line support to the school leadership team members and where applicable the wider governing body/management board members within the School employers setting, on a wide range of HR policy and practice matters.
This would include terms and conditions, employee relations, disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability, reorganisation and restructures, job evaluation, change management, employee engagement and performance management.
Please note the postholder will need the ability to travel to school locations across Northumberland as and when required.
This is a full-time 37 hrs per week post but would also welcome conversations with anyone looking to work part-time.

Essential requirements:
- Recent Knowledge of UK employment legislation and best practice
- Previous experience of supporting case management and providing advice and guidance
- Proven ability to work on own initiative and within a team
- Strong ability to use interpersonal skills to negotiate and influence
- Previous proven experience of working within an HR environment is essential. Although not essential we would welcome applicants that have previous public sector experience or specific schools experience.
