**About the role**:
We are looking for a keen and enthusiastic Porters to join our bank team at Jeanette Wallace House, Croydon, to cover ad hoc shifts covering odd days when we are short staffed, this may also cover times when staff are on annual leave, so may include blocks of up to two weeks at a time.

Working as part of a team you will be responsible for providing a portering service to include furniture removal and a delivery service to departments.

You will also be responsible for maintaining tidiness of internal and external public areas to include corridors, entrance areas, waste compound etc addressing and removing discarded items such as linen cages, NHS Supplies’ trollies, fly-tipped items, needle sticks (using appropriate PPE) etc to ensure a safe site and high standard of presentation at all times across the site.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- You will be responsible for opening up and locking up of JWH ensuring all doors and windows are secured and people are not left in building, report any issues found on Planet FM.
- Undertake collection of clinical waste and confidential waste, ensuring the correct method of storage, disposal and transportation is complied with and that equipment is locked at all times, reporting issues as they arise.
- Collect and distribute post and Pharmacy around the site or as required.
- Provide a Portering service to include furniture removal and a delivery service to departments.
- Assist Facilities Team Leader as required with emergency evacuation or other emergency situations as they arise.

**You’ll have the following skills/experience**:

- Experience of opening up and locking up of buildings ensuring all doors and windows are secured.
- NHS experience in a similar role preferable.
- Applicants should be physically fit, have good communication skills and be capable of working on their own initiative.
