**Please note, this is a zero hour contract with no set days or hours. The role requires the applicant to be able to cover annual leave with some advance notice, as well as with little notice in the event of sickness should you be available.**

**Beaumond House**

Through the doors of Beaumond House you will find a lively and vibrant space, filled with life and laughter. Our staff, volunteers and patients alike bring hope and happiness together in a ‘home from home'. Patients are at the centre of all that we do. We therefore expect all those who come to join our team (in whatever capacity) to ensure that dignity, safety, and confidentiality of all patients is respected at all times and that all patients receive the highest possible standard of physical, psychological, and spiritual care.

**Role Purpose**

To follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules for equipment and work areas in order to maintain high standards of hygiene. To be flexible in an ever-changing environment and to have an understanding attitude towards patients, visitors, and volunteers in the hospice setting.

**Main Duties**

**To assist the Catering & Housekeeping Team Leader with**:

- To follow a cleaning schedule maintaining a high standard of cleanliness
- To maintain clean and tidy storerooms and place stock orders.
- To use equipment as trained and as intended
- To adhere to COSHH guidelines
- To understand safe disposal of waste systems (general, clinical, infectious, sharps)
- To have an understanding, and at times, to help with laundry and be aware of how to process soiled or contaminated linen
- To follow instructions as stated by the line manager
- Attend induction training, annual mandatory training, and any other appropriate recommended training
- In all actions undertaken, have regard for the hospice reputation
- To comply with safe use, storage, and destruction of documentation
- To be self-aware of demands of role and seek out support if required
- To communicate effectively and sensitively with patients, carers, staff and the wider team to ensure confidentiality is maintained in all channels of communication
- To comply with Beaumond House Policies and Procedures

**General Duties**
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively with your Beaumond House colleagues
- Abide by the Health and Safety at Work Act and ensure health and safety legislation is complied with, including COSHH, Infection Control and risk assessments.
- Work within Beaumond House policies and procedures
- Participate in and contribute to team meetings
- Always behave in a professional manner, reflecting and maintaining Beaumond House values

**Skills, Experience and Attributes Required**
- Proven experience as a Cleaner or Housekeeper
- Ability to organise self, prioritise varied workloads, plan effectively and work to deadlines
- Ability to achieve a high output, whilst maintaining quality, demonstrating patience and perseverance when faced with setbacks and challenges
- Ability to support colleagues and build good working relationships at all levels
- Ability to work unsupervised and work to own initiative
