This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team who act as a resource for the hospital and provide education, information and support to hospital staff, in addition to providing specialist support to patients with an alcohol-related need.

Our team models good practice in alcohol screening and brief/extended intervention in an inpatient setting supporting staff in detox management, whilst liaising with our partners in the community.

Every day will bring new challenges and we are looking for someone who has a passion for training and delivery of brief intervention, health education, advice and information. You will also need to have a genuine empathy for our patients.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge. Whilst the team sits within the medicine division, it forms a part of the trusts wider enhanced care services, which include mental health and dementia under the leadership of the lead nurse for mental health.

To lead the Trust wide Alcohol Liaison service, working at an enhanced level undertaking the specialist assessment and bio-psychosocial intervention of those affected by alcohol misuse.

The post will work directly with patients who can benefit from alcohol interventions and working with external agencies to identify appropriate onward referral for patients that require specialist alcohol services.

The post holder will be responsible for the education and sharing of best practice in relation to alcohol misuse and related comorbidities across the trust.

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides medical and surgical services to a population of approximately 600,000 across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire.
