As a Sales Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth operation of the store. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around assisting customers with their inquiries, processing transactions, and maintaining a welcoming environment within the store.

**Key Responsibilities**:
1. **Guiding Customers**: Assist customers in locating items within the store, providing information about product features, promotions, and pricing. Ensure customers have a pleasant shopping experience by offering assistance and guidance as needed.

2. **Operating the Till**: Efficiently operate the cash register to process sales transactions accurately and promptly. Handle cash, credit/debit cards, and other forms of payment securely, adhering to established cash handling procedures.

3. **Customer Service**: Provide friendly and professional customer service at all times. Address customer concerns, resolve issues, and escalate complex inquiries to management when necessary. Ensure customer satisfaction by actively listening to their needs and offering appropriate solutions.

4. **Maintaining Cleanliness**: Keep the checkout area, aisles, and displays neat and organized. Assist in restocking shelves, arranging merchandise, and ensuring the overall cleanliness and tidiness of the store.

5. **Interacting with the Public**: Engage with customers in a polite and courteous manner, answering questions, and offering assistance as required. Represent the store in a positive light and uphold its reputation for excellent customer service.

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience in retail or customer service roles preferred but not essential.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, weekends are a must and over time could be available.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift/move merchandise when necessary.

**Working Hours**:

- Shifts will be 10am to 4pm
- A 15-minute break will be provided during each shift.

**Note**: This job description outlines the primary duties and responsibilities of a Sales Assistant. However, additional tasks may be assigned as needed to support the operations of the store.

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: From £8.60 per hour

Expected hours: 6 - 18 per week

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Weekends only

**Education**:

- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Retail sales: 1 year (preferred)
- customer service: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Driving Licence (preferred)
