We are excited to announce 13 training CWP posts in West London Trust across Hammersmith and Fulham, Hounslow and Ealing. The purpose of the role is to provide early intervention by way of Guided Self Help (GSH) for children and young people experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties especially those who would not normally meet the threshold or engage with CAMHS.
Alongside working towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Child and Young Person’s Psychological Wellbeing Practice at Kings College London (KCL), you will work in clinic under the supervision of a CWP Supervisor and there will be close links with the specialist Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) CAMHS teams.
The training programme is part of the Children and Young Persons Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies (CYP-IAPT). The aim of the programme is to provide evidence-based treatment’s that are brief, low in intensity for mild to moderate emotional and behavioural difficulties in children and young people.
This is a training role within the Children and Young People' Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT). The post-holder will work within a CYP, mental health service delivering, under supervision, high-quality; brief outcome focused evidence-based interventions and guided self-help for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value driven service.
The post holder will attend all university based taught and Onsite Protected Learning Time required by the education provider, as specified within the agreed national curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills.
The West London Community CAMHS (CCAMHS) multi-disciplinary teams are strongly aligned with the core values of the Trust; togetherness, responsibility, excellence, and caring. The team is committed to providing services that are accessible to everyone, and it prides itself on its creative and innovative ways of delivering high quality evidence based care for children, young people and families referred to the service.
West London CAMHS is committed to supporting the development and progression of its staff. In addition to receiving regular supervision, all staff have access to training and development opportunities in line with their agreed development needs.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic West London CAMHS have developed new and innovative ways of working. Our staff are currently providing a combination of face to face clinical contact as well as clinical contact via virtual platforms, resulting in a combination of onsite and remote working.
We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and highly motivated trainees with demonstrable experience working in child and adolescent in-patient and/or community settings and who have an interest in developing their skills in working with young people, their families/carers and the network around them.
The trainee CWP will need to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of children’s mental health and show an ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team.
