My client, a highly recognisable manufacturing business with sites across the UK, currently looking to recruit a Production Operative Supervisor (Night Shift). As a supervisor you will report directly to the Senior Supervisor, you will assume control ofall production activities in the event of the Production Manager/Senior Supervisor being off-site, including the management of all direct reports to ensure the timely and efficient production of goods to agreed product quality, safety and hygiene standards,to meet sales demands and satisfy customer requirements.

If selected, you will:

- Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the production department team, including charge hands, full-time operatives, hygiene operatives and temporary /agency staff.
- Assisting charge hands to understand legal compliance within the business in relation to both food safety and health and safety legislative requirements. Responsible for the implementation of all internal policies and procedures through training, monitoringand review.
- Ensure that all direct reports are aware of their required tasks and delegate where necessary to ensure all requirements of the business are met. Job descriptions, appraisals, and training requirements to be established and training to be carried out /organised to achieve departmental business objectives.
- Manage staff production working hours and arrange shift working as required, overtime to be kept to a minimum and justification to be submitted to the Senior Supervisor for approval prior to overtime agreement. Shift handovers to be undertaken daily anddocumented by both parties.
- Responsible for liaising with all internal departments in order to ensure any potential issues/ factors affecting the business are communicated in a timely manner and escalated appropriately.
- Assist with planning production with the Senior Supervisor, Production Planner to ensure continuous work-flow is maintained in line with orders and efficiencies achieved and monitored. Reviews are to be carried out to determine improvements that can bemade to attain increased capacity and through puts.
- Ensure the production plan is achieved on a day-to-day basis, ensuring goods are produced on time and the quality of all products are within agreed customer parameters and produced in a safe environment.
- Reduction of waste and the reduction of non-conforming products is to be a primary focus, attend weekly waste meetings and inform all staff of associated costs and incidents weekly. Staff notice board to be updated weekly with weekly information and cumulativeinformation.
- Responsible for ensuring PPE is made available for all staff and worn according to company policies and procedures.
- Ensure all internal & external training requirements are identified for all employees and training is carried out and records are up to date and maintained.
- Review the effectiveness and efficiency of all departmental company policies and procedures including cleaning schedules and ensure records are kept up to date & maintained. Where non-compliance is highlighted through the review ensure remedial action istaken and corrective action is implemented.
- Review individual's work performance, to ensure staff carry out all tasks safely, to the correct Health & Safety procedure and are compliant with all food safety policies.
- Achieve objectives, instrumental in controlling & achieving financial budgets and to contribute to continuous improvements, cost reductions, and reduction in waste and non-conforming products.
- Ensure all raw materials, Allergen materials, packaging and chemicals are stored in the correct designated areas and are stored safely and securely, are sealed, and free from debris and spillages. Refer to the Allergen/ Nut procedure and the glass breakageprocedure.
- Maintain BRC grade A certification for the manufacturing site, identify staff training requirements and implement/organise training. All production records and checks are to be carried out to the agreed frequency and documented and retrievable.
- Involvement in customer complaint trends to achieve an ongoing reduction in complaints, supporting the technical dept. to identify root causes in a timely manner and where applicable determine corrective actions required to prevent further reoccurrence.
- Responsible for ensuring safe working practices are up to date, issued and reviewed and legally compliant.
- Ensure monthly Health and Safety observation audits are carried out and documented, and remedial action is taken where possible to reduce the risk of harm. Supervisors / Staff to be re-trained should areas be found to be continually non-compliant, or thebreach of a procedure is identified.
- Responsible for ensuring departmental staff are trained in all operations and to be monitored and reviewed to ensure fully competent in all aspects of the operation. Training requirements to be identified further to review and training to be carried out/organised. Health and Safety review to be carried out every 6 months as a minimum.

Education/Experience
- Previous production experience minimum 3 years
- PC Literate
- Able to plan and organise work efficiently and effectively
- Able to operate under pressure and to short deadlines
- Meticulous and accurate
- Creative, problem-solving
- Able to work effectively as either part of a team or as an individual
- Flexible (time & task)
