We are looking for a Bournemouth based Finance Assistant to join our dynamic and multi-disciplinary team committed to creating practical solutions for the challenges of climate and food security.

You will provide support to the team by carrying out the bookkeeping function and assisting the management accountant and directors responsible for finance with the smooth running of the Finance function.

This is a part-time position - the salary range quoted is based on 20 hours per week. There is some flexibility around hours and whilst the role is office based in the main there is some flexibility to work from home on occasion.

Tasks

**Responsibilities**:
Working alongside our international team of strategists, scientists, data analysts, software developers and supply chain experts, your role will include:

- Bank reconciliations for several accounts in different currencies
- Raising and sending sales invoices in Xero from information provided by the client Account Managers
- Submission of sales invoices via client accounting portals where appropriate
- Keeping purchase and sales ledgers up-to-date and accurateagers
- Processing purchase invoices in Xero, including matching invoices to purchase orders, and making payments on a timely basis
- Preparation and submission of VAT Returns every quarter
- Processing monthly payment runs and ad hoc payments to suppliers and employee expenses
- Preparation and submission of VAT Returns on a quarterly basis
- Timely reporting and payment of taxes to HMRC
- Ensure payrolls (provided by HR) are processed and paid on schedule
- Issue statements to clients for Credit control purposes
- Provide support to the Management Accountant in all aspects of financial reporting and any other duties as required.
- General support to the team as required.

**Requirements**:
Your skills and experience

- Extensive bookkeeping experience is essential
- Experience of using Xero is desirable
- Experience in working collaboratively with team members and partners to understand and deliver value to the team
