We have an exciting opportunity available for a SLT with significant experience in working with children with SLCN including Autism and Social Communication Differences in Early Years to work in partnership with Autism Advisory Teachers and the Bi-Borough (Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster) Early Education and Childcare Service.

The Biborough Local Authority is leading on a project which complements our ‘whole system, needs-led’ approach to supporting children with SLCNincluding Autism and Social Communication Differences. The project aims to standardise the quality of early years support that a family should expect to receive when their child’s SLCN needs are identified. The post will involve supporting early years educational settings to use the toolkit developed by the LA based on the SCERTS model to identify and put in place strategies to support children with SLCN who are on a Social Communication Pathway

Please note the post is 4 days a week term time only.

As a Band 6 SLT we are looking for an SLT who is able to work independently and has:

- Experience of working with EY settings, schools and parents using the SCERTS model.
- Experience of delivering support on universal and targeted levels
- Proven ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with children, professional colleagues, parents/carers, outside agencies and community organisations
- Ability to work flexibly and reflectively
- Ability to work as an effective member of internal and external multi-disciplinary team
- Proven ability to deliver and evaluate programmes of support, and to contribute to the process of review
- Ability to support and challenge educational settings in the inclusion of autistic children
- Efficient and effective time and caseload management skills
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, be organised and confident in setting person centred goals for the children
- A willingness to be flexible in a changing environment
- Understanding and actively support Bi-borough LA diversity and equality policy
- Commitment to continuing professional development

- Working closely with the early years and inclusion advisory team to ensure high quality communication and language provision across early years settings.
- Facilitating discussions about the funding opportunities that are available to settings via theSENIF and DAF processes.
- Supporting settings to plan appropriate communicationtargets and outcomesfor children.
- Supporting settings in implementing theteaching strategies and approachesthatall practitionerscan use to support these children to access an appropriate curriculum e.g. communication groups.
- Providinghigh quality support to EY settings. This can include, but is not limited to support in identifying needs, strategies, advice, modelling approaches, signposting to relevant resources, support in implementation of strategies and approaches via coaching and mentoring.
