**The organisation** This is an excellent opportunity to join a construction business who have been established for over 60 years. You will be joining a company who believes they are true experts within key industry sectors. Sectors include community, education, hotels and leisure,residential and student accommodation.
They are a multiskilled organisation, offering design and delivery to a wide range of clients who they have had repeated business from throughout many years. They have the skills, ability, and local knowledge to deliver a standard of work that delivers projectsin a safe and professional manner.
With four projects on site in Aberdeen with the combined value sitting at circa £80m.
This is an exciting time to join the business. They are currently tendering for various other works (commercial and residential) as they look to expand in the North East.

**Key responsibilities** In this Senior Quantity Surveyor / Project Surveyor job role, you will report to the Commercial Manager. You will join a team of Contract Surveyors managing commercial aspects of the projects. You will control and manage costs, identify opportunities forincreasing profit margins and promote the core values of the business.
**Duties will include**:

- To undertake the day to day commercial/surveying activities of allocated projects.
- Continuous liaison with the Project Manager to ensure understanding of commercial matters relating to the project and support successful operational delivery.
- Development of project cost plans and working closely with the design team and operational colleagues through the pre-construction process.
- Procurement of subcontract work packages, issuing detailed tender reports in advance of subcontractor appointments.
- Measuring and valuing works carried out on site.
- Formulation of Monthly Valuations, Commercial reporting, the identification and valuation of variations and the control of expenditure.
- Recognise health and safety, risk and margin when carrying out all works
- Ensure adherence to Sub-Contracts and assist with sub-contractor payments.

**Skills & experience**:

- Ideally possess an Honours Degree in Quantity Surveying.
- Strong IT skills.
- Numerate and accurate in your work.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Preferably have at least 5 years construction experience in a Contracting QS role.
- The initial projects will be the delivery of affordable housing, therefore prior experience working on similar types of projects would be an advantage, but not essential.
