**Job description**:
The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) is a joint unit between Department for Transport and Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. It is a fun, friendly and energetic team whose goal is to phase-out petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2030 and work towards helping the UK meet its Net Zero and air pollution targets by reducing emissions on our roads.
We provide support for the take-up of electric vehicles as well as funding to support chargepoint infrastructure across the UK. This will contribute to economic growth and will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. OZEV operates a programme which will assist in putting the UK at the global forefront of zero emission vehicle development, manufacture and use.
**Please note: This role is available as part time, however this would be a minimum of 33 hours per week due to the requirements of the role.**
**Responsibilities**:_
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:_
- Supporting the delivery of a programme of activities for engaging and supporting local authorities - by developing, iterating and delivering the policy interventions.
- Owning discrete policy areas while being flexible to assist with emerging issues and challenges as needed by your team.
- Working on the team’s policy brief and narrative, presenting to Ministers and senior officials in OZEV and across Whitehall. Working closely with other teams across OZEV, central government and with external stakeholders as needed.
- Assisting with enquiries for Ministers and senior officials and preparing briefing packs and policy documents relating to your policy area and providing support for debates and other Parliamentary business.
- Building and maintaining close relationships with the internal and external experts needed to support policy development, including colleagues in Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Ofgem, HM Treasury, Number 10, and central government. You will also have strong interaction with key external stakeholders including local authorities and their representative bodies, chargepoint operators, external delivery partners, fleet operators, and consumer and community groups.

**About you**:
We are looking for someone who has excellent communication skills and can express themselves in a confident and concise manner with colleagues at all levels. You will represent government in a professional and clear manner, ensuring key messages are timely delivered to both internal and external stakeholders.
You will have good drafting skills with the ability to produce high quality documents and have an understanding of project management and governance.
