**Your role**:
We are seeking a Leaving Care Personal Advisor to primarily support separated young people (Wigan’s language to describe unaccompanied asylum seeking young people) who will be able access support from our service up to 25 years old.

Applicants will need to have good knowledge of the needs of separated young people and preferably experience of working with and supporting separated young people. We expect the post holder to act as an advocate for young people who are survivors of modern slavery, trafficking and trauma ,supporting them to address and overcome any social, personal, physical or mental health issues they may experience and empowering them with daily routines and activities.

This may include assisting young people with gaining access to benefit entitlements, working with care leavers without recourse to public funds, supporting young people to access health care provision, move on accommodation, educational services and any other identified areas of need or personal goals and aspirations. The support we provide our young people will help them to successfully integrate into the community they live in and reduce social isolation.

Applicants will need to demonstrate a keen interest in working with and supporting young people who have experienced trauma and where English is not their first language is key. Applicants will have the opportunity to put previous experience to good use whilst managing a diverse caseload.

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed people who can act as strong advocates for this group of people and help to drive practice improvement. You would be part of an established dynamic and supportive Leaving Care Team striving to offer an outstanding service to our care leavers.

**About you**:
You will have an understanding of the challenges facing Care Leavers and how best to mitigate the adverse life experiences many have faced. You will be passionate about improving the outcomes for care leavers and be able to work in a challenging and fast paced environment. You must be confident in report writing and be able to advocate on behalf of young people where necessary. Importantly you will want to work with young people and help them have a successful transition into adulthood. You will commit to your corporate parenting role to its full capacity and ensure that Care Leavers receive services/support as you would expect for your own child (ren).
