Emergency Department Receptionist

King's Lynn, United Kingdom The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Emergency Department for dedicated, forward thinking and self motivated individuals to join our team of Weekend and Night Receptionists.

**Two posts are available**:
- Weekends 4pm-10pm (6 hours per week average)

Night Shifts 10pm-8.30am (12 hours per week average)

We are looking to recruit an organised and methodical person with excellent communication and customer care skills. Flexibility to provide holiday and sickness cover for the Evening and Weekend Team Colleagues, often at short notice, is also an important requirement.

It is a fast paced environment and you will need to demonstrate your ability to remain calm under pressure and to use your own initiative. You will be expected to book in patients who self present or who arrive by ambulance, answer telephone enquiries, obtain hospital notes, photocopying, scanning and other clerical duties as necessary.

As the Emergency Department runs a 24/7 service, the post holder would be expected to provide cover for Bank Holidays which fall within their shift pattern.

A comprehensive training package will be provided to the successful applicant.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King’s Lynn is located near some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, along the north Norfolk coast, and not far from Sandringham House.

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire.

We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances. We work with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care, such as the trauma network.

In February 2022 the significant progress that has been made at QEH was recognised by the Care Quality Commission who rated the Trust as ‘Good’ in all of the core services they inspected. They recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures).

Please see attached job description and person specification for further information about the job role.
