**Forward Leeds is the alcohol and drug service in Leeds for adults, young people and families. Forward Leeds is delivered by 4 services in partnership, led by Humankind.**
**The Single Point of Contact (SPOC) service is there to provide an efficient and effective response to all who contact the service including professionals, service users, family members or carers.**
**This exciting volunteer role would suit someone with an empathetic, non-judgmental attitude who can build strong working relationships with others. This is a fantastic opportunity to get experience in a drug and alcohol service and put your passion for supporting and advocating for vulnerable people to great use.**

**Details of the role / tasks**
Key tasks in Single Point Of Contact:

- Manage all calls coming into the service, responding in an efficient and calm manner and directing the clients and professionals to the most appropriate staff. This may involve screening enquiries, prescribing queries, booking appointments via electronic diary management and connecting the callers through to other staff.
- Gather accurate information from individuals contacting the SPOC using excellent communication skills in order to direct them to the correct element of the service.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate records in accordance with the organisations confidentiality policy.
- Ensure that essential information is supplied within the required deadlines to the appropriate authorities, adhering to the company’s confidentiality requirements.
- Communicate effectively within the team, workplace, the organisation and with other agencies (including positively contributing to team meetings).
- Work as a multi-disciplinary team working to achieve a range of outcomes.
- Work within established care pathways and referral procedures.
- Work in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies & procedures and guidelines - both internal and external. This includes Humankind’s clinical governance framework.

- Non-judgmental towards people who have experienced substance misuse or housing insecurity
- Clear understanding of importance of confidentiality
- Some experience of working with vulnerable adults
- An understanding of Humankind - information is available on our website, and you can call a specific project to make enquires
- A genuine interest in being part of the mission and vision of Humankind
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries, adhere to Humankind policies, engage in supervision, and complete relevant training
- Experience of working / volunteering with adults at risk / with support needs related to drug/alcohol use
- Confident in lone working and/or speaking with public

**We ask that you are able to commit to a half a day or full day for a minimum of 4 months. The Forward Leeds service is open from Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.**
