**About the role**

We are looking for a Head of Department with energy, ideas and a strong sense of commerciality to lead our growing, ambitious Wills, Trust and Probate team. The team, based across Merseyside, serve a private client base and offer a broad range of services including administering probate, inheritance tax planning, Trusts, appointing Power of Attorney and more.

**Key accountabilities**
- Provide inspirational leadership and focus on day-to-day empowerment, ownership and and motivation of the team.
- Creating good, clear, communication within and across the teams to develop a cohesive, positive team environment and dynamic.
- You will lead and support your people through the continuous evolution of the legal market and our ways of working; you will support them as our processes and offerings develop and evolve, helping articulate and understand the why of change and what good looks like.
- You will develop and foster a client focussed culture where your team see the client experience as equally important as the legal expertise.
- You will develop, maintain and appropriately use the technical expertise across the team to help find answers to questions.
- You will utilize reporting to review the workload and progress of the department and consider strategy and process.
- You will work with our Marketing team to develop new work.
- You will work with our Finance team to forecast as accurately as possible on a rolling 12-month basis.
- Preparation of wills, advice on trusts, capacity, inheritance tax
- Advising with respect to trusts and preparation of appropriate trust documents
- Advising and liaising with clients on contentious probate matters and deputyships

- A proven record of accomplishment in organising their own personal workload as well as motivating and leading others.
- The ability to determine priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Pro-active with good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Inspiring and motivational to others.
- High level of attention to detail and an enquiring mind
- The ability to manage time effectively, prioritising tasks to ensure that deadlines are met
- The ability to understand clear and concise instructions
- A keen team member, with the ability to accept responsibility and work on their own initiative

- Excellent IT and systems skills and a highly proficient and experienced user of all Microsoft Office programmes, with excellent numeracy and spreadsheet skills
- Experience of collating and analysing data
