**Job Title**: SEN Teaching Assistant
**Location**: Barnet, North London
**Hours**: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday
**Salary**: £400-£475 per week, weekly pay through PAYE
As a SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant at a primary school in Islington, you will provide invaluable support to students with special educational needs or disabilities, ensuring they have equal access to education and opportunities for success.
**Your responsibilities will include**:
- **Supporting Individual Students**: Working closely with students who have SEN or disabilities, providing one-to-one support tailored to their specific needs and learning styles.
- **Assisting in Classroom Activities**: Collaborating with classroom teachers to adapt and modify lessons and activities to meet the needs of SEN students, ensuring they are fully included in classroom learning.
- **Implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs)**: Supporting the implementation of individual education plans, including strategies and interventions outlined by the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) or educational psychologist.
- **Providing Personal Care**: Assisting students with personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and mobility, as required and in accordance with school policies and procedures.
- **Monitoring Progress**: Tracking the progress of SEN students, recording observations and achievements, and providing feedback to teachers and SENCO to inform ongoing support and intervention strategies.
- **Facilitating Inclusion**: Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported in reaching their full potential.
- **Collaborating with Professionals**: Working closely with other professionals involved in supporting SEN students, such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists.
**Requirements**:
- Experience working in a school, nursery, or other childcare setting, preferably with SEN students.
- Knowledge of SEN strategies, interventions, and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and emotional development of SEN students.
