Our Criminal and Financial Investigation (CFI) teams are committed to disrupting and dismantling the organised crime groups facilitating immigration abuse; utilising its financial investigations capability to remove the proceeds of crime and strip criminals of their assets.

Immigration Enforcement tackles the criminality behind organised immigration crime. Our Criminal and Financial Investigation (CFI) teams play a fundamental role in tackling immigration crime, as part of a multi-layered UK law enforcement approach; utilising its financial investigations capability to remove the proceeds of crime and strip criminals of their assets. Through working closely with partners in the National Crime Agency, territorial policing and many other agencies and departments, our CFI Teams take vigorous action against those criminals that seek to benefit from illegal migration.

As the post holder, you will lead on serious and organised crime investigations to achieve maximum disruption of Organised Crime Group’s (OCG) operating in the UK and overseas. Using the latest techniques to disrupt and apprehend high-threat criminal immigration focused activities, build cases and bring criminals to justice.

You will manage a team of investigators, giving you the chance to develop your mentoring skills and foster trainees. The primary aim of this team is to take forward investigations into the organised groups who are facilitating the illegal movement of migrants.

The role provides an excellent opportunity to collaborate and improve your cross-departmental teamwork, as you’ll partner with other law enforcement partners both nationally and internationally to pursue offenders and identify threats.

You will be an experienced investigator with a proven track record of managing complex crime investigations. You will act as the Senior Investigator managing a team of Chief Immigration Officers who will provide the day to day direction and supervision. The successful applicant will have prior experience of working with covert tactics, an understanding of the National Intelligence Model, Financial Investigation principles and a detailed understanding of associated legislation.

The post requires weekend working, shift working and a significant amount of travel both within the region and more widely in the UK and overseas. Some travel by official vehicle will be inevitable and the post holder must hold a Full UK valid manual driving licence.

You will be expected to work rostered shifts, normally early, mid and late. In addition, will be required to participate in an out of hours on call roster to provide investigation support and direction on operations and critical incidents.

- Drive developments, improvements, and professional standards and maintain a detailed awareness of serious and complex organised immigration crime investigations to ensure efficiency and consistency and effective use of resources
- Assess threat, harm and risk in order to develop and implement plans and strategies to investigate
- Provide leadership and direction to staff, providing mentoring/coaching, empowerment, guidance and support to staff in order to maximise their development, efficiency, and morale
- Oversee and guide comprehensive risk assessments for planned operational events to ensure adequate safety procedures are in place and that an appropriate contingency plan has been developed
