The role

Enforcement & Market Oversight (EMO) is responsible for the FCA’s primary market functions including monitoring markets, investigation and prosecution of misconduct, pursuing and remedying misconduct using the whole spectrum of criminal, civil and administrative sanctions and remedies against firms and individuals.

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented associate to join the Intelligence Department. The Intelligence Department houses the FCA MLRO Function which is responsible for the FCA’s MLRO activity.

What does the role involve? What are the key responsibilities?- The role holder will report to the Deputy MLROs and work closely with them to ensure that the SAR reporting process is effectively managed;- Updating the internal SAR log, to detail receipt of internal reports and either file with the NCA where appropriate, or record the decision not to report within the appropriate place;- Manning the MLRO inbox day to day and deal with reporting queries from around the business;- Communicating with relevant parts of the organisation to provide updates and request further information where necessary or to disseminate intelligence and ensure relevant areas of the business are sighted on matters as appropriate;- Keeping requisite records of communications and advice given;- Supporting work in relation to assurance, training, risk assessments and other Function initiatives;- Assist in supporting SPOC activities relating to the NCA;- Outside of the MLRO Function, some time will also be dedicated to one or more of the following: supporting the Intelligence Department awareness initiative, departmental risk activities and departmental MI preparation.- The chance to join a friendly, enthusiastic and committed department in a challenging area of work on a varied range of issues, working with colleagues from across the organisation;- Exposure to senior colleagues and oversight committees;- A chance to develop or finesse confidence in communicating at all levels and delivering training/ awareness sessions across the organisation;- Knowledge of FCA and financial crime issues;- An opportunity to extend ones working knowledge of UK markets and regulatory landscape;- A chance to learn about and understand the challenges involved in financial crime work aligned to the organisations responsibilities on financial crime.

Skills/Experience Required

Minimum- Experience of compiling and/or submitting Suspicious Activity Reports.- Knowledge of anti-money laundering and related financial crime methodologies.- Excellent stakeholder management and written communication skills.Essential- Excellent work management skills.- Advocates the FCA mission, operating for the benefit of consumers.- Acts in an honest, open and transparent way, challenging when you see behaviour that goes against the principles of the FCA or EMO.- Continuously seeks out new and more effective ways to conduct work, and feeds this back to management.- Works collaboratively as part of a team, valuing different perspectives and backgrounds, and working with other departments and divisions collaboratively, minimising silos.- Open to learning, challenge, feedback and change, and be prepared to be flexible to new tasks and responsibilities.- Ability to exercise own judgement and defend those judgements where necessary and appropriate.

Desirable- A relevant professional qualification (certificate or diploma level) in an aspect of financial crime/ money laundering.- Working knowledge of UK law enforcement and intelligence.- Awareness of the FCA’s regulatory and criminal framework in the financial crime arena.- Experience of working within the relevant legal parameters.- Knowledge of legislation relevant to these roles (POCA, MLRs, FSMA etc), the National Intelligence Model, gateways and information sharing processes.

Useful Information- This role is graded as Associate Level 8 Regulatory- Applications for this role close on Sunday 5th February 2023- The role is based in London- The salary range will be approximately 42,000 - 48,000 plus a competitive- benefits package
- and non-contributory pension

The FCA supports hybrid working and you will be expected to work 40% of your time over a month, in our office. We will consider other flexible arrangements, for example part time working, and you can discuss this with the recruiter.
