Security Gatehouse Team Leader

Due to the growth of the site and the requirement for 24/7 cover, we are looking to recruit a Security Team Leader to support the growth of the department. Working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, you will be responsible for barrier control and all admissions to the Site.

The remit includes managing a small team of 4 Operatives who control all vehicular and visitor flows through the Gatehouse as well as controlling guard and patrol duties.

Your team will control activities such as hauliers collecting shipments from the warehouse, inbound delivery vehicles, employees, contractors and general visitors (including customers).

It is a key requirement of this role that you are open to flexible working hours and shift patterns.

You need to be an enthusiastic individual who will thrive in a fast-paced, progressive and expanding team.

Typical duties:

- Barrier control for two entry points to the site.
- Take responsibility for the training and continuous improvement of gatehouse personnel and procedures.
- Control rosters to ensure a 24/7 presence in the gatehouse to cover holidays, absences and other resource requirements.
- Assist with the completion and control of the haulier booking in and collection schedule.
- Liaise with the transport team and warehouse operations to validate and administer entry for HGVs in line with the booking schedule.
- Direct HGV drivers to the correct collection or delivery point on arrival.
- Record relevant data using the Company’s IT platforms and warehouse management systems.
- Process and control paperwork for inbound deliveries (eg equipment, raw materials, packaging, bulk tankers) as required by other departments and/or internal stakeholders.
- Undertake yard safety marshall duties to ensure that the service road is clear and to ensure smooth and safe HGV movements, especially during busy periods.
- Support operational and safety teams during site evacuations and drills.
- Control record-keeping, data entry and completion of departmental KPIs.
- Coordinate security response to any incidents on site.
- Investigate and formally report to the Operations Team any security breaches
- Implement periodic patrols, assign operatives to patrol areas and validate and update patrol records.
- In conjunction with the Operations Supervisor and Head of Operations, develop, write and implement policies and procedures relevant to your area.
- Control the periodic training requirements of your team (eg SIA renewal).
- Liaise with external stakeholders to link the Company with the local community and neighbours in relation to safety matters (eg through Neighbourhood Watch or similar schemes).
- Assist with general office administration tasks such updating of health & safety files/records and maintaining databases.
- In conjunction with the Operations Supervisor, control holiday requests for your team to ensure appropriate cover at all times;
- In conjunction with the Operations Supervisor, support with HR processes such as appraisals, performance reviews and disciplinary investigations for Gatehouse Team staff;
- Commit to flexible working hours and shift patterns to include working shifts, including night shifts or weekends, and bank holidays as required to cover personnel gaps in the gatehouse.
- Any other duties or tasks as per management instruction.

HEADLINE SKILLS/EXPERINCE:

- A minimum of 3 years’ experience within a Security and/or Despatch environment is required.
- A minimum of 1 year’s experience in a Team Leader (or equivalent) role in a Security/Gatehouse setting is mandatory.
- Experience in the context of a Warehouse or Distribution FMCG business is preferable.
- Outstanding people skills and excellent communicator, both in leading your team and when communicating with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Outstanding organisational skills ensuring efficient and safe flow of traffic.
- Experience in the training of small teams.
- Ability to follow instruction.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word/Excel.
