**Job Title: General Advisor - Health and Wellbeing Support**

**Location: Wirral Change, Wirral**

**Reports to: Social Inclusion Team Leader**

**Salary: £22,000 Pro rata**

**Contract Type: Full-time / 6-month probation**

**Purpose of the Role**
- The General Advisor for the Social Inclusion Team at Wirral Change is essential in delivering comprehensive and holistic support to Wirral's Ethnic Minority Communities. This role is dedicated to promoting social inclusion, health and wellbeing, and personal development. The advisor will provide guidance on a range of issues, including providing information and advice around life skills (priority areas such as health and wellbeing, benefits, housing). By fostering a supportive environment, the advisor will empower clients to achieve their full potential. This role employs a personalised care approach and a community peer support model, helping individuals live their best lives and build resilience for the future.

**MAIN DUTIES**

**General Advisor - Health and Wellbeing Support**
- Provide one-to-one support and guidance to clients on health and wellbeing, benefits, housing issues, and other relevant areas.
- Develop and implement personalised action plans to help clients achieve their goals and improve their life skills.
- Offer practical support in accessing services, filling out forms, understanding rights and entitlements, and managing money.
- Assist clients in accessing healthcare services and provide information on maintaining good physical and mental health.
- Promote social inclusion by organising and participating in community events and activities and engaging with target and hard-to-reach communities.
- Develop relationships with local organisations and stakeholders to enhance support networks for clients and refer individuals to specialist or mainstream services for additional support.
- Refer complex cases around benefit issues to the Welfare Advocate and Benefits Advisor for appeals and representation.
- Carry out outreach or promotional work as required to raise awareness and engage with the community.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and progress and prepare regular reports for the Social Inclusion Team Leader.
- Monitor caseload progress, keep an up-to-date database, and handle other project administration tasks.
- Undertake further training and development as required to stay updated with best practices and improve service delivery.
- Provide casework to refugees in Wirral, ensuring they access information and services related to health, housing, legal matters, education, and volunteering, working in partnership with specialist services for comprehensive care.

**ESSENTIAL QUALITIES**
- Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG) qualification at Level 2 or 3.
- GCSE in English and Mathematics or equivalent.
- NVQ in advice and guidance, with a willingness to undertake further training.
- Excellent communication skills across a range of mediums, with strong verbal and written proficiency.
- Awareness of and ability to work towards meeting set monthly targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Naturally empathetic, an attentive listener, and non-judgmental when addressing client issues.
- Comfortable in client meetings, with the ability to instil confidence and trust where needed.
- High level of cultural competence and sensitivity, essential for working with diverse client groups.
- Strong commitment to promoting equality and diversity in all aspects of work.
- Good knowledge of local services, third sector provisions, and similar organisations across the Wirral.
- Understanding of the benefits system, health and wellbeing resources.
- Confident in using Microsoft Windows 10.
- Ability to plan and manage hectic workloads effectively, with accurate data recording.
- Ability to multitask and use own initiative.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Strong teamwork ethic, with a willingness to adopt and share techniques, practices, and knowledge within the team.
- Ability to diversify approaches on a client-by-client basis to overcome potential issues, including language and disability barriers, and explore new opportunities.
- Assist in compiling project reports with the team leader.

**DESIRABLE QUALITIES**
- Spanish speaker with translation skills is a definite bonus.
- Experience in a similar role, with a good understanding of or experience working with diverse communities, including Wirral’s diverse communities.
- Ability to effectively utilise relevant contacts, including individuals and organisations across the borough.
- Strong focus on understanding people’s needs and barriers, with a determination to provide the best support within your ability.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision while ensuring compliance with the programme’s requirements.
- Willingness to work outside of normal hours, attend events, and reach out to clients who are unable to come to you.
