**East Sussex Domestic Abuse service** provides a high-quality frontline service to people who are experiencing or have recently experienced domestic abuse and violence. The focus is on risk assessment, safety planning and support for victims of domestic violence and abuse across East Sussex, through the civil and criminal justice system and beyond.

The L
**GBTQI+ DVA case worker/IDVA** will support the development and provision of a proactive service to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and/or Trans survivors of domestic abuse across East Sussex. The successful applicant will also provide direct specialist Domestic Abuse information, advice safety and support planning.
- We recognise and support all people identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or trans, and anyone falling under the umbrella term of LGBTQI+ such as queer, intersex, pansexual, gender non-binary or gender fluid, including those questioning their sexual orientation and/or gender identity.

**Salary**: £26,393.77 - £30,316.74 dependent on experience

**About the role**:

- To complete targeted and evidence-based interventions of people affected by domestic abuse, with a focus on the LGBTQI+ communities
- To be part of a multi-agency team. Linking in with other specialised services i.e., Switchboard, Hour Glass, Age UK, Criminal and Civil Justice Services, Statutory services for safeguarding and protective measures, MARAC, Housing Services, Mental Health and Wellbeing, and Substance Misuse services as appropriate
- To undertake and complete safety and support planning and where appropriate to refer onto services with specific attention to safeguarding and risk prevention
- To complete reports of work undertaken, analyse service user’s engagement and report on risk and protective factors
- To complete specialist intervention and safety planning, drawing on strength-based strategies and models to bring about positive change
- To complete reports and present to the appropriate forums for example Child or Adult Protection Conferences
- To work alongside and with multi-disciplinary services which include sexual risk, mental health, drug & alcohol, psychology, and psychiatry

**About you**:

- Experience of court, civil and criminal justice systems
- An understanding of the issues affecting people who are or have experienced domestic abuse/violence and the impact on children and the legislative framework that surrounds these issues
- Experience of undertaking risk assessments and developing/reviewing risk management plans
- Experience of delivering solution-focused approaches
- Ability to engage with people of diverse backgrounds
- Sensitivity in working with complex family issues
