If so, St Giles Trust is looking for a **SOS+ Senior Facilitator and Mentor** to join our SOS+ team and be part of our mentoring team working within education provisions, one being Brent River College.

St Giles’ SOS+ Project delivers early intervention work in educational settings, through preventative sessions on violence, vulnerability, and exploitation.

Utilising a ‘whole school’ approach combining sessions to children, their parents, and professions, as well as 1:1 mentoring, SOS+ aims to:

- To prevent children and young people from becoming involved in gangs, exploitation, and violence through increasing resilience.
- To increase children and young people engagement in education

To increase the knowledge and understanding of children, young people, parents, and professionals in all aspects of gang involvement, exploitation and violence

**About this vital role**
We’ll rely on you to to deliver training sessions for groups of children and young people on the risks associated with all aspects of gang involvement, exploitation and violence and offering intensive 1:1 mentoring to young people who have been identified by their education setting as needing targeted support.

You will work closely with each education setting to prioritise safeguarding and contribute to a shared aim of reducing exclusions, reducing risky behaviour and raising aspirations. Maintaining the high standards of the project by supporting regional staff and volunteers will be important too, as will providing coaching, advice and guidance and compiling reports when required.

**What we are looking for**:

- Personal experience of the criminal justice system or lived experience of the issues facing the client group (i.e., involved in gangs or knife crime).
- Experience of working positively with socially excluded children, young people, or adults, able to engage successfully despite ‘challenging’ behaviour.
- Experience of delivering sessions to groups and/or mentoring young people effectively.
- A relevant qualification, or willingness to work towards one, plus knowledge of safeguarding practices and policies
- Strong IT skills and the ability to use and develop monitoring systems to record all aspects of work
- A full current driving license and willingness to travel across Hampshire as required
