Orthoptist

Main Duties and Responsibilities To provide a high quality Orthoptic service for all patients referred to the hospital service in Stockport and High Peak and work autonomously in the diagnosis and management of complex adult and paediatric cases. To be responsible for ensuring the provision of compassionate, safe and high quality patient care. To take direct referrals, prioritise and judge requirements for onward referral. May be first point of contact for patients and is totally responsible for patient management.

To determine the clinical diagnosis and develop effective treatment plans To work effectively as part of a team To undertake some of the clerical and administrative duties involved in the running of the hospital orthoptic departments at Stepping Hill Hospital and the Cavendish Hospital, and in community clinics and schools. To lead by example and act as a positive role model to staff taking responsibility for own professional development. Organise and plan own day to day workload or activities in order to meet the demands of the job role. Contribute to and participate in programmes of audit, including utilisation of results in practice.
