The Opportunity

The Junior Analytics Consultant will be an integral part of the team that delivers projects to clients. These projects empower our clients to improved decision making, underpinned by data, resulting in improved business outcomes.

The Data & Decision Science group collects, processes and interprets corporate data to produce optimised long-term strategic investment plans and advanced analytics tools for companies to improve management of their physical assets.

You will work autonomously and within project teams; you will collect and transform data, analysing it to provide regression style relationships and assess their confidence. You will populate and configure the analytics software and solutions in order to produce an optimised strategic plan and disseminate results via client workshops and reports.

Your Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

- Deliver projects to our clients:

- Develop the project scope to ensure we deliver value to the customer, managing outputs and quality.
- Collect, assess, and transform data as required to support the project.
- Derive predictive models using appropriate statistical techniques.
- Ensure the data that supports the project recommendations is verified, analysed, and modelled effectively in collaboration with other team members using Enterprise Decision Analytics (EDA) software and other open source platforms within agreed project scopes, to the standards required by clients.
- Configure the EDA and other open source software and generate optimised investment plans.
- Report and present the outputs to ensure the clients have a full understanding of the project process and deliverables.
- Investigate trends within the data and present results.
- Author client reports & technical notes to draft stage.
- Produce final versions of client reports based on colleagues’ review recommendations.
- Adhere to business and Project Management process and requirements to ensure auditability and quality assurance are maintained.
- Brief colleagues prior to meetings.
- Communicate with clients within Project Scope to the professional standard deemed acceptable by Gen.
- Ensure that any project risks/issues are reported with immediate effect to the Project Manager / Consultant

What You Bring

We are looking for someone who is educated to degree level as a minimum in a Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or other financial/numeric field. MSc level or equivalent qualifications would be an advantage in this role.

Independent & creative thinking are essential such that results from analyses are questioned enabling conclusions and recommendations to be confirmed.

Beyond that, we are looking for someone who has:

- Exceptional skills in data collection and interpretation
- In-depth understanding (and ideally real-world implementation) of:

- Sensitivity and scenario analysis of analytical models.
- M athematical and statistical analysis and modelling skills.
- Data and Analysis tools; R, MATLAB, Python, SAS, SPSS, MS Access, MS Excel, SQL or similar
- Data visualisation tools such as Qlik, Power BI etc.
- Predictive and / or prescriptive analytics.
- Understanding of investment models, assets and systems of assets, understanding of Optimisation (linear & non-linear), Prioritisation and Monte Carlo analysis.
- Experience of working for a large asset owning company or consultancy on data analysis / modelling / investment planning would be advantageous.
- Experience of presenting methodologies and results in a business environment would be advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organisational skills.
- Ability to adhere to project milestones and meet challenging deadlines.
- Accurate attention to detail
