**Mechanical Technician**
- ASAP start date.
- Initial 3 months assignment.
- £23 PAYE
- Based in Slough.

**The role.**

This role supports factory production reliability by providing contract maintenance & reliability expertise and performing maintenance activities in adherence with all site safety, quality and technical standards.

This is a hands-on role in the Maintenance and Reliability Department with the primary focus being preventative maintenance aimed at supporting equipment reliability. The role comes into contact with a large variety of FMCG technologies and will be expectedto work across different areas of the factory in line with your prior level of experience and expertise. There is an expectation to be capable of both learning from others, and imparting your knowledge on those around you.

**Key responsibilities.**
- Carry out planned maintenance activities on Mars production equipment
- Manage technical mechanical issues anywhere within the factory to maximise production efficiency.
- Work in adherence to site safety, GMP/GHP standards aligned with operational and technical priorities.
- Provide training and knowledge sharing with Mars associates where necessary to support in technical matters, including breakdown repair, maintenance tasks and continuous improvement.
- Provide additional training and upskilling of Mars apprentices and new Mars associates when required
- Support diagnosis and resolution of technical issues to root cause.

**Education & Professional Qualifications**

You'll have worked in a similar role requiring technical skills in mechanical engineering, though this needn't have been confectionery or production based. At least ONC/HNC qualified, ideally with a vocational apprenticeship or experience in lieu of this.

**Knowledge / Experience**

As a mechanical engineering technician, you'll be comfortable working with and diagnosing faults on:

- Transmission equipment
- Pumps, valves and heat exchangers
- Conveying systems etc.

A background or experience in the following skills is also desirable (not necessarily required):

- Machine fitting
- Tooling
- Welding

Along with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams, as a mechanical engineering technician you can also offer:

- Excellent all-round communication skills in English
- Great drive for results
