As a Wellbeing Support Life Coach Volunteer, you will help people build their confidence and resilience to achieve their objectives. You will provide guidance and assistance to participants through one-on-one sessions, where you’ll collaborate on setting and pursuing goals. This experience will not only enhance your coaching skills, but also provide valuable insights as you work with a diverse group of people.

**Key tasks**:
In a series of one-to-one sessions, you will give direct support to a small caseload of participants. You will help them to identify their goals, before collaboratively establishing feasible steps to help them make progress. By helping them build their confidence and resilience, you will boost their chances of finding and maintaining employment, fostering greater independence, and improving their wellbeing and self-esteem.

This role could include:

- Facilitating wellbeing groups where people can discuss and share their experiences.
- Giving personalised one-to-one support and assisting participants in achieving their wellbeing goals.
- Motivating participants with constructive feedback and positive affirmations throughout the process.
- Delivering information sessions on various topics such as confidence & motivation, healthy eating, self-belief and overcoming doubts, setting and achieving goals, SMART action planning, financial health.
- Taking a person-centred and solution-focused approach with participants on a one-to-one basis across several sessions.
- Creating a safe and supportive environment to foster positive outcomes.
- Appropriately signposting participants to local activities/resources.
- Demonstrate useful self-help, emotional and behavioural regulation techniques, to support participants in managing their wellbeing.

**What we are asking for**:
Most volunteers give an hour or two each week, depending on your availability.

We will need to carry out an enhanced DBS check on you. It won't cost you a penny.

**Your Skills and Attributes**:

- Have an empathic approach.
- Adaptable to meet the needs of a wide range of participants.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- IT skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to facilitate group sessions.
- Confident acting independently and providing remote support.
- Able to volunteer as part of an extended team.
- Understanding of data protection and GDPR.
- Awareness of barriers faced by participants who have faced disadvantages such as disabilities, care leavers and mental ill health.
