**Attendance/Medical Officer**
**Post**:Attendance/Medical Officer
**Salary Range**:£22,000 - £25,000 depending on experience
**Responsible to**: Headteacher, under the day to day management and leadership of the
SLT Lead for Attendance
**Hours**: 40 weeks per year (term-time +1 week)/ 8am - 4pm Monday - Friday
**Core Purpose**:
- To promote systems that will efficiently and effectively log accurate attendance and absence data
- To maintain accurate registers including attendance and absence details
- To promote a positive attitude towards regular attendance and maintain positive links with parents in matters relating to attendance including making contact on the first day of absence
- To assist in solving those problems that may affect a student’s ability to benefit from educational opportunities available
- To take responsibility for providing students with medical attention as required
- To be an active member of the Student Services Team which includes all areas of administration that involve direct interface with the students of the Academy
**Key Accountabilities: Attendance**
- Ensure that all Academy procedures relating to attendance and lateness are followed and recorded
- Make daily contact with parents where no reason for absence is given and follow up with an absence letter where appropriate.
- Ensure home visits happen if a student has been absent for 3 or more days and contact home has not been made
- Work with families, students, tutors and Head of Year to encourage high levels of attendance
- Analyse attendance figures and use the analysis to work with the tutor team to drive and sustain improvement
- Regularly prepare attendance data for monitoring
- To challenge lateness to school daily. Recording students late on ClassCharts and sending a message to parents.
- Arrange parent meetings for tutors, HOY, SLT for students who are persistently late
- Collate and record work for students who are suspended or withdrawn from the Academy community through suspension or part time timetables
- Ensure appropriate arrangements are made for students who are unwell or who have accidents during the Academy year e.g. EdClass
- Liaise with the Educational Welfare Off
