Kendal, United Kingdom Lake District National Park Full time

**Salary: Grade I1 £23,143 to Grade F5 £41,178**:
**About us**:
The Lake District National Park Authority looks after this unique corner of England, encouraging people to enjoy and understand its beauty and helping those who live and work here. Our staff include rangers and field workers, advisers at our visitor centres, planners and more.

We’re looking for a keen and confident Planner to take on a challenging and rewarding enforcement casework role in one of England’s most spectacular landscapes and largest World Heritage Sites.

**The Role**:
You’ll be one of five team members doing enforcement casework and an integral part of our Development Management service. We pursue a decisive approach to compliance with a strong focus on formal action that has seen us become one of the most active enforcement authorities nationally, regularly placing top 10 outside London for the number of enforcement notices we serve. Our casework covers a wide range of planning content. Unauthorised operations and unauthorised uses are common - particularly holiday lets.

You’ll have the day-to-day support of great peers alongside you and in the wider service, and a strong group of members and councillors who value your work giving you confidence. There’s an up-to-date local plan and weighty landscape, heritage and environmental designations to aid you, not to mention fewer permitted development rights to contend with.

Please read the attached Role Profile for the full person specification on this post.

You’ll be based at our recently refurbished offices, Wayfaring House in Kendal but we’re set up for hybrid working and can accommodate some working from home.

**About You**:
But above all we’re after someone who’s comfortable with people, a great communicator, highly organised in their work, likes problem solving, has a logical approach and is well-reasoned in their assessments. If you like working out whether something’s a caravan and think enforcement is the best part of development management this might be the job for you.

This is a career graded post. Grade on appointment is based on skills and experience.

**Benefits**:
Working with us, you’ll enjoy:

- Generous Pension Scheme
- Electric car and Cycle to Work schemes
- Paid time off so you can volunteer
- Subsidised healthcare scheme

See our website for a complete list of our employee benefits.

**Contact**:
For an informal discussion please contact Julie Birkett, Enforcement Manager (01539 792894) or Andrew Smith, Head of Development Management (01539 792660).

**Please note CVs will not be accepted.**

**Key dates**:

- Interviews will be held at Lake District National Park Authority on a date TBC

**How to apply**:
**Diversity and Inclusion**:
As an equal opportunities employer, the Lake District National Park Authority is committed to the equal treatment of all current and prospective employees and does not condone discrimination on the basis of age, disability, sex, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, gender identity, or marriage and civil partnership.
