The CVA Advisor will sit within the Programme Quality Team who support programme delivery by ensuring mechanisms are in place to strengthen accountability, quality and learning and train the delivery teams to meet associated standards. The CVA Advisor will collaborate with Programme Delivery teams to maximise the quality of ShelterBox’s programming in alignment with our mission, vision, and strategy. This role will represent ShelterBox at relevant technical fora, including the Global Shelter Cluster, building and managing relationships, whilst also consolidating ShelterBox’s reputation within this arena. They will also support the development of a Research and Innovation agenda at ShelterBox, ensuring our work is informed by examples of best practice and through effective knowledge exchange, contribute to sector-wide development in the field of CVA.

**Who are we looking for?**

This role will be joining a fast-paced organisation realigning itself for further growth in the face of mounting humanitarian needs.

**Duties will include but not be limited to**:

- Provide technical input into programme strategy design and development with respect to CVA.
- Critically evaluate ShelterBox’s organisational capacity and technical strength, identifying areas for improvement with regards to the delivery of CVA. Develop approaches to addressing areas for improvement (policy and practice) and work with relevant colleagues to put these into action. Stakeholders will include colleagues in Learning and Development, Supply Chain, Finance, Programme Delivery and Programme Quality.
- With respect to CVA, provide technical advice and assistance to needs assessment, programme design and delivery, including through review of concept notes/proposals and presence in-country where this is necessary to support the quality of high priority activities. Advise on relevant programmatic approaches, standards, and best practice to ensure that programme design is relevant, appropriate, safe, and likely to achieve maximal impact for affected communities.
- Be deployable to rapid-onset emergencies, adopting a leading role in overseeing / managing emergency market assessments and supporting the development of CVA responses. Provide technical support and advice to CVA emergency preparedness planning.
- Work closely with the Programme Quality team to ensure that necessary technical and MEAL tools are in place and used by the Programme Delivery team and partners to maximise quality of programming and accountability to affected communities.
- Work with the supply chain team and the Emergency Preparedness Lead as the technical CVA specialist, supporting preparedness and the tendering process of Financial Service Providers at a global, regional, and national level.
- Work with Heads of Department in IPD to identify capacity building/training needs of programme staff, Partners and ShelterBox Response Team volunteers, and work with the Learning & Development team to develop approaches to meeting these needs.
- Support the Programme Delivery team (Emergencies and Regional Programmes) to assess capacity of partners to deliver CVA responses. Develop and deliver and/or facilitate access to capacity building opportunities for our partners as appropriate and work with the Learning & Development team to develop approaches to meeting training needs.
- Provide technical support to ShelterBox Partners through the identification and mapping of cash delivery mechanisms and financial service providers and enabling Partners to build appropriate SOPs and tools for cash delivery.
- Act as CVA focal point for existing strategic global/regional partnerships and support the Director and Deputy Director of IPD and the Partnerships Manager to build and maintain new strategic relationships with other shelter actors.
- Engage with sector networks and resources to maintain relationships and awareness of sector trends, learning and recommended practice. Proactively analyse and make recommendations on how emerging global and sector trends, developments and research might potentially affect current policy and practices with regards to CVA.
- Input into a Research and Innovation agenda by identifying opportunities to deliver cash to affected populations in new and innovative ways. This role will work closely with colleagues in the MEAL team and/or research partners to understand and document a relationship between CVA-based responses and recovery outcomes for affected populations.
- Promote and actively support an organisational learning culture. Work with the Impact & Accountability Lead to ensure that ShelterBox has robust systems in place for knowledge management and knowledge sharing with respect to CVA. Ensure relevant programme and wider staff are aware of key sector trends and recommended practice as appropriate.
