**The Post**
The Research Integrity and Ethics Officer will contribute to the effective and efficient support of research integrity and ethics through the robust management of the University’s research ethics processes. The role holder will be responsible for all operational aspects of the research integrity and ethics processes, delivering training to staff, providing advice and engaging with colleagues across the University to ensure that the appropriate standards are embedded across the University contributing to our research culture. They will deliver a highly professional level of service as the first point of contact for integrity and ethics related enquiries.
**Description of Duties**
- Act as a specialist contact point on a day to day basis for all queries relating to research integrity and ethics. Provide robust, yet proportionate guidance, liaise with colleagues across the University recommend solutions / actions to support decision-making
- Work collaboratively across the University to ensure that there is a consistent and harmonised approach to research integrity and ethics
- Identify gaps in and contribute to the development of research integrity and ethics processes at Stirling in response to researchers needs and external requirements
- Engage with external partners, such as UK Research Integrity Office, Universities UK and networks of relevant professional staff within other Universities
- Engage with colleagues across the University to identify, draft, prepare and deliver research integrity and ethics training opportunities
- To provide recruitment and induction support/training for panel members
- Contribute to the review of current policies and practices, and development of new policies to improve the level and effectiveness of research integrity and ethics across the University
- Engage in own professional development activities to keep on top of rapidly evolving legislative and regulatory requirements relating to research integrity and ethics, including assurance and due diligence
- Manage and maintain records to ensure easy and accurate reporting and information management
- Implement and support best practice administrative processes related to research integrity and ethics
- Ensure that all integrity and ethics resources, particularly online, are up-to-date.
- Provide secretariat support for the three Research Ethics Panels
- Undertake such other duties, commensurate with the nature and grade of the role, as may be required

**Essential Criteria**
- Educated to HND level or equivalent (where no formal qualifications are held, additional, relevant experience is required) Or employment experience across a range of roles with increasing levels of responsibility
- Experience of providing advice and guidance in response to customer enquiries in complex, technical areas
- Experience of providing clerical support to complex processes, with attention to detail
- Knowledge of the current research landscape and of the wider context relevant to Higher Education, along with the capability to understand the impact on the ongoing operation and development of the role
- Advanced knowledge, understanding and competence using a variety of IT systems
- Ability to initiate processes and procedures to resolve new problems. Anticipates possible implementation difficulties and identifies practice ways of overcoming or preventing them
- Ability to build proactively productive and enduring relationships between internal and/or external bodies to benefit the University
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to exercise judgement and understand the consequences of decisions made
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Flexibility, reliability and punctuality

**Desirable Criteria**
- Experience of working in a research environment within Higher Education, ideally with knowledge of research ethics and integrity
- Experience of working with research ethics systems
- Professional training, ideally a formal qualification delivered by a professional body, such as ARMA
- Participation within external HE research funding networks, groups and bodies
