**About us**:
The unit collaborates with internal and external researchers to develop and/or evaluate complex interventions in primary care, psychiatric and community settings, with a particular focus on mental health and behavioural change interventions.
The UCL academic collaboration has existed for over 15 years and consists of multidisciplinary teams including clinical researchers in psychiatry, primary care, psychology, palliative care, nursing, epidemiology, trial management, statistics and health economics.
The strategic direction of PRIMENT has evolved from the research activities undertaken by the collaboration and includes the evaluation of cognitive and behaviour therapy and other interventions for depression in primary care, smoking cessation interventions, care packages for severe mental illnesses in primary care, the use of self-management programmes in people with osteoarthritis, evaluation of common treatments in primary care, educational interventions for general practitioners on the implementation of treatments, and rational prescribing among others. The existing organisational structure within PRIMENT CTU ensures continuity of the disciplines.
**About the role**:
The post is an opportunity for an individual with a strong background in statistics who would like to grow that skill set further and/ or move into working in clinical trials. They will receive hands on clinical trial training whilst getting experience in the conduct of the statistical evaluations of the many studies undertaken by the CTU. In addition, they will have the opportunity to develop their methodological expertise. PRIMENT has a large portfolio of multicentre randomised control trials across a wide range of clinical areas, providing the post holder with a wealth of data and varied experiences. As a member of PRIMENT CTU and the Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology (ICTM), the applicant will be involved in the statistical components throughout the lifetime of the trial. Training and support will be provided by senior statisticians working at PRIMENT CTU at UCL as well as the two directors of PRIMENT CTU, Professors Irwin Nazareth and Greta Rait. The applicant will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively with clinical trialists and health economist to expand their skills and knowledge in clinical trials.

**About you**:
Applicants must have a background in statistics. The statistician will be encouraged to collaborate and interact regularly with other statisticians and health economists across UCL. This will include contributing to seminars, writing papers with colleagues, attending statistics events and disseminate research findings at national and international scientific meetings in the fields clinical trials and statistics.
The statistician may be involved in writing grant proposals for research in the field of clinical trials and other large studies (both from the applied and methodological perspectives) and support will be given where appropriate.
The post holder will be encouraged to pursue / develop their own independent research, as long as this is aligned with / contributes to the research strategy of the PRIMENT CTU.
