Our clients include the largest government departments, such as Defra, the Department for Business and Trade, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, HMRC, the Home Office and the Department for Education. We also work with government agencies and regulators, local authorities, charities, utility companies and housing associations. Our projects range from small to large, from exploratory research to evaluation, and from qualitative to quantitative, including a number of Official Statistics.

We are now recruiting for a Research Manager to support our expanding portfolio and deliver high quality research to our clients. Our Research Managers are responsible for leading their own projects and playing a key role on our large projects. They lead teams, manage people and have the opportunity to be an active part of growing client relationships through their work, and participating in business development.

We have specific opportunities to work across a range of topics including:

The development of official statistics for tourism and leisureEnergy policy feedback and customer satisfaction with utilitiesEmployee engagementHealth policy

Key Responsibilities

Leading the design of research materials e.g. questionnaires and topic guidesDay-to-day project management; including planning, problem solving and supervising deliveryManaging project teamsManaging junior/early career researchersEnsuring the quality of research materialsEnsuring projects progress in line with BMG quality processes and standardsPreparing presentations and reports for clients to a high standardClient servicing and managementReporting results in a clear, concise and impactful way

Person Specification:

4+ years’ experience of leading research projectsAbility to manage project teams and the end-to-end research processAbility to work independently across projectsExcellent written and verbal communication abilities accompanied by good numerical skillsA knowledge of society and current affairsAn understanding of data and analytical processesAn ability to transform data/findings into an interesting storyA full working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPointEffective and efficient time managementA keen eye for detail
