You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the library and knowledge service; assisting the Library and Knowledge Services Manager in proactively providing and developing an information and research service to Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust staff and partners.

The post holder will supervise the Library Assistants to ensure that their duties are carried out in an efficient and effective manner.

You will work to support evidence-based decision making by conducting literature searches and evidence summaries, provide information skills training including searching skills, using the Cochrane Library, the NHS Knowledge Hub and other resources as needed. You will be responsible for collection management of the Mental Health Library including print and electronic resources, and you will lead on library outreach activities with teams and services in Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. You will work with the Library and Knowledge Services Manager to build the knowledge mobilisation activities of Library and Knowledge Services to grow and embed this as a service.

The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with library and information professionals regionally and nationally, optimising opportunities to share best practice and support professional development.

Provide training and support for the library assistants in the delivery of all aspects of library services

Provides advice and support for library users around conforming to copyright law

Produces detailed and accurate statistical information on library budget, collections, and usage to inform collection development decision making.

Represents the Trust’s interests at local and regional Library meetings

Select and provide complex information and advice to library service users as part of the literature searching and enquiry service including selection of appropriate sources and devising appropriate search strategies.

Select and acquire a range of information resources in a variety of formats ensuring the stock is up-to-date, relevant, and responsive to the changing needs of library users.
