As a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist working for Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust you will be responsible for ensuring that our service users' needs are met through the delivery of high quality care.

As a leader of the inpatient multi-disciplinary team at Holly ward, in Woodlands Hospital, you will provide clinical care to older adults who require specialist inpatient care.

You will work closely with a wide range of clinical and professional disciplines in order to deliver holistic care by completing assessments of new admissions to Kingsley ward and managing their treatment and ensuring safe discharges back to the community.

Clinical role
- Undertake assessments of new/current patients on the ward.
- Diagnose and formulate management plans in complex presentations.
- Provide management in treatment resistant and complex presentations
- Assessment and management of risk including of vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety and risk of harm to others.
- Preparation of reports for governance related activities, whether it be for hearings or meetings.
- Work in a collaborative way with multidisciplinary teams including external partners.
- Work in partnership with psychiatrists from partner providers such as Liaison services, Home-base Treatment Team, and Community Services.

Leadership role
- Lead clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high quality care
- Develop service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards
- Engage with service transformation programmes including attendance at Consultant meetings for their service and directorate.

Educational role
- Provide clinical supervision for trainees in gaining core psychiatric experience
- Provide clinical supervision for psychiatric trainees in achieving competencies in core general psychiatry
