**Study Abroad Advisor - International**

The Global Opportunities Team, based in Cardiff University’s Student Futures, is seeking to appoint a Study Abroad Advisor - International, to manage international student exchanges beyond Europe. Applications for internal secondments will be welcomed.- This role involves line management of 2 staff members.
- The post is full time (35 hours per week) and fixed term until 27th September 2024 to cover for a member of staff on maternity leave.**Salary**: £32,332 - £34,980 per annum (Grade 5)

**Key Duties**
- Manage the operation of a small team, planning, organising and delegating work, monitoring progress and intervening as required
- Manage the performance, induction and development of the team
- Support and guide team members in welfare issues, escalating as necessary to specialist support areas
- Ensure the delivery of the team’s service level agreements, adapting these according to changes in workload and customer requirements
- Collaborate with others in order to make recommendations for the development of established processes and procedures
- Undertake the training of others in areas relating to the teams work
- Undergo personal and professional development that is appropriate to and which will enhance performance
- Establish working relationships with key contacts to help improve service levels, developing appropriate communication links with the University’s Schools/Directorates and outside bodies as required
- Gather and analyse data to inform management decisions, establishing basic trends and patterns in data and creating reports as appropriate
- Assist with coordination of Global Opportunities visits and events, including international visits and fairs.

**General Duties**
- Manage and monitor responses to students, staff and external stakeholders, ensuring that queries are responded to in a professional and timely manner
- Manage databases related to outgoing international exchange students activities
- Provide timely and detailed advice and relevant information to outgoing students
- Provide advice and guidance to academic schools in relation to student international exchanges, including how to increase participation and yearly exchange balances
- Promote international exchange opportunities to current students, including delivering promotional sessions and the production of promotional materials, guides and intranet/internet content in line with GO communications plan
- Design and deliver comprehensive pre-departure sessions and workshop series for outgoing students
- Ensure that an understanding of the importance of confidentiality is applied when undertaking all duties
- Abide by University policies on Health and Safety and Equality and Diversity
- Perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role

**Essential Criteria**

Qualifications and Education
- NVQ 3/A-Levels or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Specialist knowledge of appropriate administrative systems and processes, including the ability to develop, monitor and improve office processes and procedures
- Experience of using a wide range of IT packages including, creating and maintaining databases, and the ability to run reports and to summarise and analyse data
- Ability to set up standard office systems and procedures and make improvements as appropriate, including ability to produce effective marketing materials as well as utilising social media.

Customer Service, Communication and Team Working
- Ability to communicate detailed and complex information effectively and professionally with a wide range of people both orally (including delivery of effective presentations) and in writing
