**A quick look at the role.**

This position provides support and assistance for designated landfill sites and process facilities to achieve environmental compliance, increase and manage biodiversity and operate in a sustainable way. The role requires environmental data collection, interpretationand reporting for regulatory purposes and company procedures at a number of the Company's sites.

**The Biffa division you'll be supporting.**

Within **Landfill, Gas and Organics** we focus on the treatment, recycling, energy capture and disposal of waste, always trying to be at the forefront of innovation and diversification through a multitude of operations. We provide a number oftreatment services for those materials that can be recovered and landfill disposal for those that are not suitable for recycling or energy recover. The role requires legal compliance, adoption of best practise and facilities are operated to the highest environmentalstandard, including ISO14001.

**Key aspects of the role**
- Undertake environmental monitoring, including but not limited to groundwater, surface water, leachate and gas, at designated landfill. All data requires statistical analysis, interpretation and report writing. Reports are required for both internal andexternal regulatory bodies.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, such as the Environment Agency, for site inspections, monitoring reports and compliance assessment responses.
- Liaise with contractors, laboratories, suppliers and local residents with association to environmental management and biodiversity improvements.
- Regular inspection and maintenance of site monitoring infrastructure to ensure data can be collected and the system operates in an efficient way.
- Collation and tracking of Environmental costs.
- Assist with project management, contractor control and audit preparation.
- Assessment of Health and Safety performance and promoting a culture of safety.
- Regular travel to operational and non-operational landfills and other facilities in the region.

**Requirements**:

- Full Valid Driving Licence (compulsory)
- Data interpretation and statistical analysis
- Waste industry legislation knowledge
- Computer literate including MS Word/Excel and internal databases.
- Time management/organisational skills
- Communication skills
- Ability to work unsupervised
- Decision making
- Report writing
- Practical maintenance skills
