Our client, a specialist Domestic Violence charity based in the Black Country is looking to recruit a Complex Needs worker within safe accommodation to bring about lasting change in how services work for individuals with multiple and complex needs.

The service manages and provides 41 units of accommodation ranging from houses in multiple occupation, individual flats and houses as well as group schemes.The service is accessible 24 hours a day.

**Synopsis of duties**:

- Working with women and men who present with experiencing domestic abuse and whose needs are either not being met by existing services or not accessing existing services or not being accepted as referrals with the aim of providing a transition into mainstream services
- To be responsible for delivering an effective system of contact, care and support to clients that have multi needs; this includes gathering information regarding the client and their circumstances and assessing requirements for support.
- To effectively communicate with clients in a manner and pace that is appropriate and which:

- develops and maintains a positive atmosphere
- allows clients to progress at their own pace
- reflects an interest in and understanding of the situation
- maintains calm and control throughout the call
- acknowledges risk to health, safety and welfare
- To work with identified complex needs clients who present with substance misuse, mental health, care and support needs to overcome barriers to services and engagement.
- To ensure that clients practical and support needs are identified and a joint support plan developed with clear lines of accountability and responsibility. The support plan should be empowering and achievements at the clients own pace.
- To provide assertive engagement, including trauma informed approach, Proactively working with clients to encourage engagement in support
- To work with a small targeted caseload and provide bespoke services with the aim of bringing about real improvements for the most entrenched and complex service users
- To carry out a multiple needs assessment with each client, including risk assessment, management plan and to research a case history with each service user
- To provide frequent/intensive input (eg. 4 / 5 times a week) and recognise there may be regression as well as progress
- To develop an Individual Action Plan with each service user in conjunction with other agencies and professionals who will need to be involved.
- To follow and monitor the service user’s progress, providing input as required, to ensure the targets set on the Individual Action Plan are met
- To support established/existing risk assessments framework in assessing and managing risk
- To provide a service that upholds best safeguarding practice in relation to children and adults at risk
- Be responsible for the delivery of one to one and group work targeted domestic abuse intervention sessions,
- To participate in the delivery and evaluation of structured activities
- To be embedded within the local delivery services comprised of Mental Health Service, Substance Misuse services, therapeutic services, IRIS, Adult social case services, Children social care services and Health services
- To facilitate the service user’s journey to secondary services and other voluntary and statutory services as needed including acting as broker between secondary care services to avoid clients being “bounced” around teams.
- To develop a close network of communication, co-operation, joint work and skills exchange with other practitioners in the project team and wider community.
- To adopt agreed compliance monitoring which includes mapping a service user’s journey and case management systems and keep appropriate casework and administrative records, case studies and reports
- To help evaluate and share learning and best practice across a wide range of media and contribute to local strategies and policies
- To work closely with members of the local delivery services and taking a lead on multiagency meetings where a service user’s support needs are discussed
- To contribute to the development of improved joint working protocols between agencies in the locality
- Work flexibly across operational sites within an agreed number of hours as required to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision. This may at times dependent upon need include evening and weekend working.

Essential Requirements:

- Experience of working with vulnerable adults and children, acknowledging safeguarding concerns and responding appropriately
- Experience of working with victims of domestic abuse in a professional capacity
- Experience of managing a caseload of vulnerable individuals
- Experience of managing complex casework, including issues such as child abuse, mental heal
