An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual, with a compassionate, person-centred approach to care and an understanding of the issues facing cancer patients with dementia, to join our supportive care team in the Integrated Care
Directorate at Velindre Cancer Centre.

The primary role of this post is to be responsible for the design and delivery of evidence-based dementia awareness training and specialist dementia training programmes at Velindre Cancer Centre (VCC). This training will be targeted at all grades of staff within VCC and will include working with staff on the wards, day units, radiotherapy, acute oncology assessment unit and
outpatient department.

The post holder will be expected to lead and advise the team at VCC on aspects of dementia care as required for a tertiary centre and will facilitate partnerships with appropriate services in local health boards to help maximise seamless high quality, person-centred care. This will
be in conjunction with the Supportive Care Team, Velindre University NHS Trust (VUNHST) Supporting Vulnerable Groups Forum, the Education and Development department and our networking partnership with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board dementia learning and development team.

Where appropriate, the post holder will lead on the development of
clinical skills policies, pathways and audits.

The post holder must be able to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of legislative and policy frameworks including the Dementia Action Plan, Public Health Wales Improvement Cymru All Wales Dementia Care Pathway of Standards, Good works framework, the Mental
Health Act and Mental Capacity Legislation and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)/Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS).

We are therefore seeking to employ a skilled, reliable and highly organised band 6 Registered Nurse or AHP with excellent communication, teaching, and organisation skills. The post holder will need to be flexible as the role will involve supporting VCC staff working across departments and may on occasions include out of hours working in line with the needs of the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
