**Job Title**: Company Accountant / Bookkeeper
**Location**: Barrow-in-Furness (hybrid)
**Salary**: £30k - £35k
I am seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Company Accountant to join our finance team. The Company Accountant will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the company's financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. As a key member of the finance department, the incumbent will play a crucial role in maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, and providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making.
**Responsibilities**:
1. Financial Recordkeeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable and receivable, expense reports, and payroll transactions.
- Ensure all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with accounting principles and company policies.
2. Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Analyse financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide timely and accurate financial reports to management for decision-making purposes.
3. Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with management to develop annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and analyse deviations, providing insights and recommendations to address any discrepancies.
4. Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and file accurate and timely tax returns, including income tax, VAT/GST, and other applicable taxes.
- Stay up-to-date with tax regulations and ensure the company's compliance with relevant tax laws.
5. Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial analyses, such as cost-benefit analysis, profitability assessments, and return on investment calculations.
- Assist in identifying financial risks and opportunities, proposing strategies to enhance financial performance.
6. Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, laws, and regulations.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting and financial reporting regulations and adjust company practices accordingly.
7. Cash Management:
- Monitor cash flow and manage working capital efficiently to meet the company's financial obligations.
- Maintain relationships with financial institutions and manage banking activities.
8. Financial Systems and Tools:
- Utilise accounting software and financial tools effectively to streamline processes and enhance reporting capabilities.
**Requirements**:
- Qualification: (CIMA, CPA, ACCA, AAT Level 4). or other relevant professional qualification and experience.
- Proven experience (3 years) working as an Accountant or in a related finance role.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and financial management tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and generate valuable insights.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with colleagues and external stakeholders.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to adapt to changing regulations and industry trends.
