**The purpose of the position**

The Apprenticeship and Sector Gateway Work coach plays a vital role in empowering job seekers to overcome obstacles and succeed in their professional endeavours. By providing personalized guidance and support, they contribute to building a skilled and motivated workforce and positively impact the lives of individuals in their career journey into construction. The Work coach will also support our Apprenticeship cohort to ensure progression and development whilst in learning.

The post holder, at each centre, will manage a caseload of learners and provide them with employability and personal development support. The role will be to ensure that learners are matched with the appropriate job opportunity in the local area and track sustained employment outcomes.

**Principle duties and responsibilities**
- Support the Apprenticeship Programme to organise and undertake learner progress reports
- Report and feedback on progress and progression of the Apprentices on program
- Individualized Career Planning: Conduct one-on-one consultations with job seekers to understand their career aspirations, skills, and interests. Collaboratively create a personalized career plan and set achievable goals
- Identify areas for skill enhancement and coordinate relevant training to improve job seekers' employability.
- Ensure learners are referred and matched with appropriate job opportunities where appropriate.
- Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective students
- Delivery of employability skills and personal development sessions
- Compile regular reports to be included in weekly, monthly and annual statistical for job opportunities and outcomes
- Build relations with future employers and construction companies to highlight upcoming job opportunities.
- England Construction Opportunities - work with Contract Manager and WMCA to identify enrol and support leaners on programme ensuring mentoring is provided as specified, contact logs maintained and reviews completed. Maintain WMCA performance tracker.
- Follow-Up and Evaluation: Monitor and assess the progress of job seekers throughout their career development. Provide ongoing support, advice, and encouragement as they navigate their employment journey.
- Ensure that the jobs boards (both physical and virtual) are updated with current roles.
- Track and report success rates for those students on programme
- To carry out any other duties that are within the employee’s skills and abilities wherever reasonably instructed

**Key experience, knowledge and skills**
- Previous experience in career coaching, counseling, or human resources, preferably with a focus on job placement and workforce development.
- Experience of supporting learners into employment
- Experience of working with key stakeholders to highlight job opportunities.
- Ability to inspire and motivate individuals facing employment challenges and help them maintain a positive outlook during their job search.
- Excellent communication skills across a diverse range of client and stakeholders
- Experience of delivery or support with training sessions and employability skills.
- Proven ability to organise own workload and to cope with a variety of task demands
- Awareness of working in a multicultural environment
- Good understanding of the construction industry and job requirements.
- Strong verbal and written English language communication skills
- Computer literacy skills inclusive of demonstrated competence with the Microsoft Office suite - PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook

**Qualification and training required**
- Functional Skills at level 2 or above
- IAG Level 2 or above or willing to work towards
