You will engage with people with diabetes to improve knowledge of the importance of diabetic eye screening within the programme communities.

**You will have experience of**:
Working in a customer focused environment

Working with under-represented or seldom heard groups

Involving and working with a wide variety of public stakeholders such as patients, carers and community groups.

Experience of working within the diverse communities served

Experience of partnership development

Organising events and conducting presentations

Social Media creativeness and Engagement with service users

Awareness of general and cultural issues as they relate to underserved communities and seldom heard groups

Attend events and conduct presentations

Experience engaging with support groups for patients would be beneficial

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital services to a growing population of around 700,000 people living across Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas across two busy hospital sites in Bedford and Luton. To engage in new and established engagement strategies and projects to ensure service equality in a wide diversity of patient cohorts, especially hard to reach groups.

To further develop the links made for herd to reach groups and proactively target them to ensure the importance of regular screening.

To liaise with local authorities, the BLMK Integrated Care Board and third-sector organisations to understand and develop plans to address inequalities in uptake and develop a team of ‘screening champions’ to spread the message of the importance of screening.

To collaborate and engage with Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s Communications Team to utilise social media channels for education and involvement with patients, the development of a BLMK Diabetic Eye Screening website and localised literature.

To work closely with Milton Keynes University Hospital’s Engagement Officer.

To undertake, analyse and report on patient satisfaction surveys and other experience surveys on an annual basis.

To conduct an ongoing health equity audit and screening inequalities action plan.

To organise, run and evaluate outreach and engagement sessions.

To devise an outreach and marketing strategy of health promotion and engagement for the diabetic eye screening programme.

To horizon scan for engagement opportunities.

To write engaging, meaningful and clear content for a range of online, print and other channels to ensure the best results of engagement and take-up, in line with the Trust’s guidelines

To lead on newsletters, campaigns and event communications.

To support with advice, planning and delivering of programme communications, for example amongst GPs, the third sector and various health organisations

To have freedom to act, deferring to senior managers when necessary

To work flexibly, sometimes working evenings and weekends to support particular activities and events.
