To engage in service development and to contribute to change with accompanying ongoing support and preparation of staff, by involving them within the process of change supporting the manager. Provide supervision of staff, ensuring safe practice in the management of young people To provide case management supervision to nursing and non-nursing staff, both on an individual basis and by facilitating case presentations, including care plan reviews and group discussion. To Influence the clinical practice of other trained nurses within the work area by using clinical research/literature reviews regarding specific mental health presentations, to influence care approaches.

To assist the manager in developing professional practice within the service by participating in professional nursing issues as an active member of appropriate working parties and professional interest groups, and through the reading of professional literature and journals. To undertake further specialist training that will enhance performance and to utilise these new skills to develop existing team members and the service. Have knowledge of the department and its staff, being able to give information on its philosophy, objectives, needs and developments.
