**_ About the Role_**

We are looking for a school attendance officer for an initial 12 months to contribute to raising achievement across school by improving school attendance.

This person will provide a specialist service to assist the school in meeting their obligations and targets in relation to school attendance, especially persistent absence. They will work closely with students and their families to promote positive attitudes towards attendance and ensure they are aware of their statutory responsibilities to attend school.

This person will be responsible for making unsupervised contact with families in their own homes and elsewhere to assess the reasons impacting on the attendance of individual students, facilitating their return to school.

Due to the nature of work the above post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and relevant care/safeguarding legislation and appointment will only be confirmed if a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure is obtained from the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS)
