Phlebotomist - Emergency Department

**Clinical responsibilities**: Works independently within ED whilst undertaking phlebotomy tasks, ensuring there is a team approach with members of the healthcare team. Maintains the patients safety at all times, ensuring that patient identification is verified and that samples are taken and handled according to Trust and Local Policies. Ensures safe storage, use and administration of all medicines and substances according to Trust Policy. Ensures that Safeguarding procedures are followed for Vulnerable adults.
Acts as the patients advocate at all times. Deals appropriately with unsuitable samples and/or requests. Assists with the training and supervision of staff, as directed. Provide phlebotomy related information for patients.
Liaising with laboratory colleagues and other services, as appropriate. Assists in the maintenance and implementation of department procedures, policies and documents. Please see attached job description for more information.
