An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, innovative and highly motivated individual to join a great team in the NHS Wales Delivery Unit (DU) to support the National Nosocomial COVID-19 Programme (NNCP). The successful post holder will be based at either the South Wales Office (Pencoed) or the North Wales Office (Wrexham) plus home working.

The National Programme has been established in Wales to support NHS Wales organisations investigate and learn from incidents of healthcare acquired COVID-19. Timely management of the programme is key to improving patient safety and improving quality of care and experience for service users. This highly complex and sensitive Programme of work is seeking a National Communications Manager to develop and deliver a Programme specific communication strategy that professionally supports delivery of the Programme. The post holder will be required to manage national communications between the NHS and key stakeholders including Welsh Government, and the Community Health Council.

You will be joining an experienced team who are highly focused on patient and staff safety and quality assurance. The team is values led with a strong ethos of innovation and collaboration with NHS organisations and other key national stakeholders. The team also has a strong focus on personal and team development.

The Quality & Safety Team are commissioned by Welsh Government to manage the National Programme.

To represent the Delivery Unit on a wide variety of internal and external relations ensuring a high degree of professionalism and being mindful of the Service’s reputation at all times, including;
Coordinating and leading a cross NHS Wales communication hub to deliver consistent messaging for external and internal audiences

Drafting and delivery of a strategic communication plan - working with NHS Wales communication and patient engagement teams

Media activity - producing proactive and reactive communications

Staff communications - producing key messages to share across the NHS Wales networks

Patient/family communications - producing and agreeing Programme messages

Working with key partners including WG, NHS Wales, NHS Wales Confed to manage programme communications

To lead the operational media and communications element of the Programmes Communications Plan, supported by the wider Programme team

Brief executive, senior staff and where necessary Welsh Government on highly sensitive or potentially negative media issues and areas of risk
