**The Opportunity**

This is an exciting opportunity and a role which impacts on every community across our borough. We want to build on our partnership working with headteachers, governors, parents and carers and other stakeholders in pursuit of the best educational opportunities and outcomes for all our children and young people. We believe that the development of a sustainable and self-improving education system is key to success in this area.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the Directorate delivers its statutory duties for children with special educational needs and disabilities along with improving Education, Training, and Employment (ETE) outcomes for vulnerable post-16 young people. Championing our most vulnerable learners the role will involve implementing our SEND Strategy, including the commissioning and oversight of provision, ensuring robust transition supporting children with Special Education Needs or Disabilities to move to their adult life in a more coherent and joined up way, leading to greater independence in adult life.

Delivering success through integrated provision and partnerships will take considerable skill and leadership capability and there is a great ambition from Royal Greenwich and its partners to seize the opportunities that this presents. The post holder will work closely with elected Members and partners including Adult Services, Community Health providers such as Oxleas, public health and the voluntary sector to ensure that Greenwich is a place where every child and young person has a great chance to succeed and where children and families are safe, healthy and thrive.
