Operator Melting

Business Need / Purpose of Role:
A fantastic opportunity has become available at Weir Minerals Europe to join our Melting Department as an Operative.

As the melting operative you will be responsible for all preparation prior to the pouring process of molten metal into the moulding. You will contribute to the safe and efficient operations in and around the furnace area, working individually and part of diverse team. Prior experience is not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

- To ensure adherence to the Company Health & Safety policy for yourself and all other employees.
- To work in a flexible team and carry out activities as necessary to fulfil business/ shift objectives in a safe and efficient manner.
- To ensure that all ladles are made up in line with the departmental plan.
- To ensure that furnaces are utilised efficiently to meet the departmental plan.
- Ensure quality requirements are met - accurately completing all required documentation relating to role
- To complete TPM’s and check sheets for equipment utilised on shift, ensuring that all lifting equipment complies to current colour code and is fit for purpose.
- To identify and highlight any risks within the Melting Department.
- Ensure that the working area is within housekeeping standards, in line with safety and SHE hazard audit requirements.
- General crane and forklift truck operations
- Rotate between three shifts, 06:00 - 14:00hrs, 14:00 - 22:00hrs and 22:00 - 06:00hrs

Experience & Qualifications:

- Great Verbal and Written communication skills.
- Flexible Team Player.
- Positive adaptable attitude.
- Task / Goal orientated,
- Follows operating procedures and safety standards.
- Working safely under own initiative.
