**Job description**:Medication Administrator

**Responsible to**: - Manager and deputy Manager

**Main aims of the job**

The Medication Administrator is expected to be able to undertake all daily activities and routines of the Care home, which includes direct service user contact, house hold tasks and administrative procedures. He/she is expected to establish and maintain high standards of social work practise within the organisation. The medication administrators role will be to maintain a safe, efficient, and professional drug administration and medicines management service responsive to the needs of its customers, in accordance with current legislation and guidance.

**Key Responsibilities**

1. He/she is responsible for the basic care of the resident

2. He/she will be expected to develop an understanding and experience of challenging behaviours.

3. He/she will be expected to carry out assessments and write reports as necessary.

4. He/she may be expected to carry out a key workers role to a resident.

5. He/she will be expected to submit written information on residents for the use of case reviews when asked.

6. He/she will be expected to administer medication to the resident in accordance with their GPs wishes and recognised procedures.

7. He/she will be expected to encourage and maintain high standard of personal appearance for the resident, with particular emphasis on personal hygiene.

8. He/she is expected to report to the manager any problems regarding health, safety, behaviour and general welfare of the residents.

9. He/she may be expected to liaise with external agencies and family to establish the best interest of the resident.

10. He/she will at no time enter into correspondence or discussion with either relatives or outside agencies regarding individual resident without prior approval of the manager.

11. He/she will be expected to supervise their staff team effectively, in ways which promote harmony and good team work.

12. He/she will be expected to attend team meeting monthly.

13. He/she will be expected to participate in any grievance, complaint or disciplinary action, in accordance with organisations procedures in conjunction with manager.

14. He/she will be responsible for identifying individual and collective staff training needs, by consultation with the individual staff members.

15. Confidentiality must be maintained to a very high standard, progress and developments in these areas will be continually monitored, discussed and reviewed through supervision.

16. He/she will be responsible for ensuring that records of financial transactions are appropriately entered and maintained.

17. He/she will be responsible for liaising with other appropriate council departments and officers as necessary e.g. environmental health, building control etc.

18. He/she is responsible for identifying his/her own training needs, and communicating them to the appropriate person.

19. He/she will be expected to complete any other duties and responsibilities when requested, which are commensurate with this role.

20. He/she must be flexible around working tasks and roles.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From £11.00 per hour
